Doctoral enrolment basically involves enrolling for thesis tutorials, for which enrolment is compulsory every academic year whilst you are writing your doctoral thesis. In some cases it is possible that you will be asked to enrol in bridging courses that are part of a master's degree or degrees.

 

Once you have enrolled for the first time, the University will assign you an institutional e-mail address (____@estudiant.upc.edu), to which all of the information on your courses will be sent.

 

You will have to enrol within the period established in the academic calendar by means of the forms of the Doctoral School of the UPC.  You will have to submit the following documents to the PhD Area of the ETSEIB:

 

  1. Enrolment application formfilled in and signed by your tutor or thesis supervisor.

  2. SEPA direct debit order,

  3. Any document that proves that you are exempt from the enrolment fee or that you are entitled to a discount on enrolment or free enrolment.

  4. The original and a photocopy of your National Identity Document (DNI), Foreigner Identification Number (NIE) or other identity document if you are from a country within the European Union.

  5. Two copies of the commitment agreement between you and your thesis supervisor, if you have already been assigned one.

  6. Qualifications and certificates granting admission:

  • BACHELOR'S DEGREE OR EQUIVALENT: original and photocopy of the bachelor's degree or equivalent, and your academic transcript for the degree. If you took your bachelor's degree or its equivalent at the UPC, all you will need to submit is your academic transcript, which must include the date on which the degree certificate was issued or on which you applied for it to be issued.

  • OFFICIAL UNIVERSITY MASTER’S DEGREE: original and photocopy of the official university master's degree or equivalent, and your academic transcript for the degree. If you took your master's degree at the UPC, all you will need to submit is your academic transcript, which must include the date on which the degree certificate was issued or on which you applied for it to be issued.

  • 60 ECTS CREDITS PASSED ON THE MASTER’S DEGREE OR MASTER’S DEGREES ASSOCIATED WITH THE DOCTORAL PROGRAMME: academic record of the official university master’s degree taken, with proof that at least 60 ECTS credits have been passed.

  • RESEARCH PROFICIENCY UNDER PREVIOUS ROYAL DECREES: If you are admitted to a doctoral programme and your research proficiency was recognised under Royal Decree 185/1985 or 778/1998, you must submit your academic transcript for the doctoral degree that you passed. The transcript must include the date on which your research proficiency was recognised. If you have already been awarded the Diploma of Advanced Studies, you will need to submit that too. If research proficiency has been obtained at the UPC, candidates will only be required to submit their academic record, which must include the date on which your research proficiency was recognised.

N.B. If you were awarded this qualification abroad, you will also need to take the following into account:

Foreign documents submitted must be official copies issued by the competent authorities, as provided for by law in the country of origin, and duly legalised and translated if necessary (see the section on the legalisation of documents and qualifications).
